Short selling update
On 21 January 2009, ASIC announced that the ban on covered short selling of financial securities will continue to be in place until 6 March 2009.
On 14 November 2008, ASX released a list of the financial stocks (PDF 60KB) that will continue to be subject to the ASIC ban on short selling. The daily gross short sale report (TXT 23KB) is now available.
On 12 November 2008, ASX released a market circular (PDF 72KB) detailing the requirements for disclosure and reporting of short sales after the lifting by ASIC of the ban on covered short selling. Please visit the ASIC website for more information.

ASX has released a Market Information Document outlining changes to its Central Counterparty Services (PDF 109KB).
Findings from Review of Trading by Directors - Q1 2008 (PDF 42KB)
ASXMS has recently conducted a review (PDF 111KB) of all directors' interest notices lodged by all listed entities for Q1 2008. A review of 'blackout' trading was also conducted to identify whether there were instances of directors engaged in active trading in securities during a 'blackout' period.
Continued Improvement in Corporate Governance Reporting (PDF 51KB)
The latest review by ASX (PDF 221KB) of listed entities reporting against the ASX Corporate Governance Council's Principles & Recommendations reveals that overall reporting levels have risen to 90.5%.
